Hey there! I'm Courtney Howard, the girl behind the designs and press at Paxney. I'm a Colorado girl at heart, but I traded the mountains for the beach and am currently living in Manhattan Beach, California. Paxney started in 2018 after falling in love with the creative process and the craft of letterpress.
Let's back it up a bit though, to that first spark of an idea. In 2015, I got engaged to my favorite human in the world. Pax pulled out all the stops with an engagement on top of a building overlooking the LA skyline. He knows I'm a sucker for a city view! A year later, we got married in Big Sur, California with just with our parents and siblings as guests. Our decision to have a small wedding allowed us the chance to travel. Instead of the traditional honeymoon right away we traveled to a new US city once a month for a year and invited our friends and family to join us along the way. We ended our "wedding year" with a bang in Croatia!
Why the wedding story? Well, planning our wedding ignited a creative passion that I've always had, but never really explored. I started following a bunch of artists on Instagram and it really encouraged me to get out and try something new. So I enrolled in a letterpress class at Otis College of Art and Design and later that year had a short internship with Swell Press. I was hooked and Paxney was born!
